Intervention

Recognizing a students problem, and intervening before it's to late to evaluate their problem will go a long way with keeping them in school..

Post secondary schools by its early intervention methods by right tools ,right personals, right place and right time will drastically lower the drop out rates and help to build up students confidence, for present and future incoming students.

Intervention at the early stages are a major step to retention. Student issues are often not as sever as they percieve them to be although important to them at the time. Getting this student to the right person to discuss the issue is just as important. The Instructor in the classroom is the first step to success.

I think it is great for instructors to keep each other up to speed on students as long as it is for positive re-enforcement.

I agree, it helps to know when a student is having problems. If you can help them right away it is much less likely it will spiral out of control. This will help keep them in school.

Yes, it sure helps to know ahead of time. It's not always easy to relay to the next instructor, even entering comments into SMART takes some effort.

true. recognizing students who are having problems early will help the staff to provide the needed help. if the problem can be identified early enough it will prevent it from growing into something that will not be as easy to deal with.

I agree, however the intervention must be appropriate for the problem (correct counselor).

I appreciate when instructors who have had a student before, bring me up to speed on any behavior that could be a concern.

Pay attention to your students reaction to problem solving can give you a heads up on them having a problem.
