intervention

be patient when dealing with students about intervention, get to the heart of the issue without being threatening or crowding

The student's perception is his reality therefore I like to take the time to give them the impression that I understand.

The classroom is as professional as any work environment. Students have expectations of instructors just like we have of our supervisors.

I feel you must be patient when dealing with any student issue, but sometimes you must also be somewhat firm. It would depend on the issue, of course. I'm not here to be "friend" to my students. I want them to know they can come to me, and they do; but I also want them to view me as an authority figure such as a boss. In the end, if you treat them as you would want to be treated in a professional environment the student appreciates it.

in short show that you truly do care through your actions, not just your words
