If we as Instructors can help the students at the time the students needs us to, we may help the students overcome behavior problems and expres their trust in us for help in the future.

I explain the importance of being the best in your profession, which is massage in my case. there is so many options for clients if you do not wow them in the first visit you will probably loose them as a customer.

I could not agree with you more. I am going to find out more sbout the schools retention plans.
This comes into play by including teaching soft skills in the class along with the course curriculum. As we all may know, it is just not content knowledge that will allow students to succeed in landing and keeping a job in their chosen field after graduation. Soft skill coaching is just as important an area of focus as is course curriculum and content.
100% retention is not the focus of retention initiatives. The objective is to maximize the opportunity for students to succeed.
Students do need to succeed, but at what price? We have to try to correct issues that they have with behavior and living issues, but there are times that we cannot correct a students issues and they will not succeed. At that point we need to make sure we've done all we can do and move on. We will not save every student, we will not retain every student, and if we do we're certainly compromising our program for success that may be ill placed.

Succeeding is important thats for sure but many of our students think they are going to skip to the top of the ladder without doing any work to get thier. We have to show them how to succeed and give them good directions to acheive this goal
Ensuring the success of the student also means ensuring the survival of the species. Evolution is only possible if the next generation is properly prepared by the current generation.
