Customer service

In this society where value on customer service has diminished, it is essential for our students to feel recognized as an individual not just "another number". It is essential for us to be understanding of their needs and expectations.

Sochand,

Really excellent point! Yes, they are coming to us for knowledge and skills...but they are still customers!

I agree, in addition to seeing the adult learner as a student, I think it is very crucial to also have in mind that this learner is the customer.

I often think that respect, manners and listening to the customer at a learning institute is key.
I think it is also healthy to compare our services (Student Services) to the hotel industry or any other industry that is known for excellent customer service (car and hospitality industry for example).

What is it that they do to appreciate their customers? They deal with a high number of customers too, yet make everyone feel unique.

I therefore like the point in this first module that encourages continual personal interaction AFTER begin of class.

Catherine--

Excellent observation about first impressions. That is very true in and outside the classroom.

Just like the real world there is not two person like. Read clues and react individually. What you see at first may not be what it is.

Sarai--

Absolutely agree! Treating students as individuals is absolutely critical.
