People do behave according to our expectations. Letting our students know that we are there to assist them and teach them the skills necessary for success makes a huge difference.

Yes I agree, and the best way to do this is by example. The are our customers. Of course they have a responsibility, However if we show that we are there to ensure their success, they will pick up on the concept.

Exactly correct! Students have the opportunity to choose another options every day they interact with us. They will also tolerate some issues if we treat them with respect and resolve those quickly.

Yes customer service skills are very important, because if you are rude or unpleasent to you customer/client they will find someone else to do business with. No matter what field of work you choose to work in you will need to interact with others at some point in some way. The old addage is true: "treat others as you would like to be treated", and things will usually go a lot smoother.
