Classmate Testimonials
I love this idea. It will give myself and the other classmates an idea of who they are and their golas in the course. Can't wait to try it out.
I think this is a great idea. What better way for a new student to understand what is ahead, by listening to a graduate who is working in the field. Students will find out what is expected, in both the learning evironment and the work environment.
On occasion I've had graduates come back to vist and I've hoped that our administration would allow them the opportunity to speak. But this is not the case. It comes down to manageing the message sent to students. At least some institutions have embraced the idea that grads are a reference source for current students and can offer testimonials to them.
i also like this idea, and i have used this at the begining of my career. now with my new group of students i will use this idea again

Do you have a particular format you use for the testimonials?
Susan
Yes I agree. We found that it helps the new student feel less intimidated and more motivated toward reaching their goal.
This is great! I have students that come and visit me ever so often. When they do I have them tell the students how it is going for them. The students are allowed to ask the graduate questions and he/she answers if possible.
I fnd it helpful to have a student who is ready to graduate speak to the incoming class during orientation. I choose someone who really worked hard and had many life challenges along the way.
I have found this to be very helpful and encouraging to new and prospective students--they see people like themselves who have successfully completed the program.
Yes....I think this is an idea we will incorporate....also you could hang pictures of graduates in their new careers listing the company info

It's always reassuring to know there is light at the end of the tunnel and that it really is achievable. This is especially powerful if you have soon-to-be graduates who have endured a great deal to make it through the program.
This is indeed an excellent idea. Our program can be very challenging at times. Having the new students exposed to a student, who is near the completion of the program, will enable them to set goals for themselves to complete the program.
