Faculty Involvement
Faculty involvement does give new student's a sense of well being and support. This is definitely necessary to help them succeed in school.

You hit it on the head! Students have a lot going on outside of work that pulls them in a lot of directions and adds a significant amount of stress to completing their program. These are in addition to the pressures brought on in the classroom. A single caring person can have a large impact.

Faculty involvement is crucial to the continued efforts that the student is making. It is a reinforcement for the student...a person or persons to turn to for guidance and support. It not only should be in orientation, but throughout the entire program. I've seen students make it to the last 3 week module and drop out because there was no one there to encourage them to complete the program. Sometimes their outside life influences them, and sometimes it is just a feeling of nobody cares any more.
faculty should be involved. It shows support to the students.

Excellent enhancement. Sounds like you are seeing some good results?

Our school has programs ranging from 47 weeks upwards. There was very little involvement of faculty from the electives and higher courses in the early orientation process. Last year the shcool began a program of having the chief instructors of the elective programs come in an speek to the students during their first week in class. This gives the students a better understaniding of what those courses are about and helps refute some of the inevitable rumors that circulate about various classes.
