Upperclass support
I find it useful to have students in upper classes talk to new students. New students seem to embrace a topic passionately when an upperclassman explains the relevance in learning particular material.
I love it when old students drop by. I put them to work encouraging my new students with experiental wisdom.
What a good idea! I may mention that to our leadership team, to see if they are interested in doing something similar.
We invite alumni students to come on Mondays to talk to students about their experience in school and also their job they currently have along with also letting the students know they need to pay back their student loan. Our assemblies only last for one hour so the student coming in to talk is not stressed as to give an entire morning or afternoon of speaking.
