Clubs
I believe it is a good idea to have a club day in week one, where all clubs and organizations have a representative present themselves to students. This gets students excited about their place at the institution.
This could also be very beneficial for orientations as well to have club reps for new students.
Ed,
Clubs are a great way to provide connections with other students, network and to give them an insight about their chosen profession.

Absolutely!!! Our MA club provides so many opportunities for our MA Program. It is an EXCELLENT way for our MA students to get to know one another and get involved in our community.
I believe that clubs help students form relationships that they can continue throughout their program. We began a CJ club with the students and I was amazed how many of the students wanted to become members and help out with the activities.
We always talk about what actives are going on for that week and any up and coming big events. The students love to hear what we are doing and what the school is involed in.
Nathaniel,
Typically students are very interested in organizations that relate to their careers. Many national groups have 'student' opportunities and this provides them with specific career-related information and contacts.

What sorts of clubs do you have at your school? Are they purely social or do they relate to the careers your school is preparing students for?
