changing lives

seeing and or creating a vision, being aware of and seeing blind spots, and providing great customer service.

Well said!

I always think of the "Derailed Train" screnerio. You never know what positive encouraging words you say to your students might affect the rest of their lives. For example, Student is upset at having to re-do a project. You encourage them and help them with doing it right the second time, the student learns from his mistake, and was two seconds away from dropping out of school and shattering his dreams, but your encouragement kept him in class, he learned from his mistake, and prevented that mistake from happening again in the future, thus changing the course of his life, and you never even knew you did it, by just a few positive encouraging words, and changed their life forever. - the derailed train scenerio

Thanks, Kelly.

What are two or three of the most important things instructors can do to create a "good product?"

We as instructors are creating a product with are students. When you create a good product you will create good customer service. This will be good for our future and the students future.

Great! The reason I mentioned local contacts is you can often use these contacts for guest speakers, field trip opportunities and possible to identify potential adjunct faculty or advisory board members.

Not just local but national. We have a very good repor with the industry & employers. J.P.

Good point, John. The most successful career colleges recognize that the folks who hire their grads are their second most important customer.

Employers can play a vital role in the success oof a school. How does your school leverage the relationships you have built with local employers?

One big blind spot in most educational insitutions is they fail to see that not only is the student our customer but so is the industry we are training them to enter. J.P.

If we think about visions we had when we were yonger we can see the importance.

Creating a vision can make all the difference in the world to a student in need.

I often find with students, that their attitudes are a result of how they have been treated in the school in the past and what is going on in their lives today.

Showing some compassion and getting an understanding of their daily activities and then taking the time to talk with them seems to make them feel more welcome and gives us a better understanding of their situation.

I agree it is so over looked.
