Knowing vs. Caring
I believe that people don't care about how much you know as much as they know how much you care!
Absolutely, actions matter more than empty promises and shortened time spent with the students.
When I show I care my students have 100% attention
I have been told that I care to much can't change that and the student know I care keeps my retention below 3.0
Joseph,
"Students do not care how much you know until they know how nuch you care" is a coomom theme n career education.
Jeffrey Schillinger
yes but if you show them you care about them there probaly going to put more effort into learning.
I asked my students and they all said they know I have passion for the subject because I give them fun projects to work on as a group in the class, showing shorts videos that relate to what we are talking about that day, self "non" pressure class quizzes along with practicing diagrams in class. Checking with the class about every 30 minutes when I lecture if we can more on to new information.
Deborah,
How does one show the passion you are referencing?
Jeffrey Schillinger
I agree...when you love what you are "teaching" the students will pick up the vibe the instructor cares- just by being passionate about the course they are teaching.
Me to I believe that if they know you care about their education that it helps give them a willingness to learn
I think that is true if you show someone that you care and take interest in them I think they will be more willing to learn from you.
