Intelligent Heart
Though intelligence is about learning information, it is also caring about the student's well being.
James,
Adult students need to know how each item learned will impact them. Letting them know how youwere impacted is a good step in developing rapport.

Right, I find that sharing personal experiences can really help students visualize their own success and assist in them setting their own goals. The ability to be flexible and try to relate to each student, regardless of how introverted or extroverted they may be, really helps the class as a whole understand how the tools being presented, whatever the topic, can connect to their own lives.
I work on sharing the information in way that you're not just spewing information, but giving them the tools they need to succeed. Because that's what we want for them. Sharing experiences and letting them know how this will benefit them.
