I don't mean for this to sound uncaring because it's actually just the opposite. There are consequences for everything we do and if some students don't "accept that responsibility" the consequence will be a lower level of knowledge obtained and a poor grade. The problem is, we have taught them that we are responsible for their learning - which is half true. However, it is their learning. I think our job here is to show them why this method is better for their learning. I think we might be surprise at the acceptance rate for this style once they understand.
