I think my response is "yes and no", Dave! I am always in favor of getting people to talk to each other instead seeking third party information, so I am all for seeing faculty member and student talk openly. But generally speaking, there is no need for the faculty member to have specifics of the student's disability in order to make appropriate accommodations. The fear is always that too much information shared with people may lead to THEIR sharing with others who do not have a need to know. GRIN
