For the instructor its a very good idea to have all the assignments, posts and other course material online at once but if its all visibile to the students it can get overwhemling and diffcult to navigate.  It's also best if the more recent material appears at the top of the page.  Some platforms put the most recent material at the bottom.  This can be difficul to navigate.  Ideally each student should be able to structure their screens and portals in a way that's easy for them to navigate unfortunately this is not always the case.  It can be sometimes challenging for even the instructor to get the navigtion and organizational menus to fit exactly what they require let alone the student. so as much as possible I make things simple
