A More Tailored Course

I am not saying that the information was bad. In fact, I learned QUITE a bit. However, I feel that a course could be tailored more specifically to those of us that are instructors. I'm sad to say, that I won't use a majority of the information I learned. Also, in fear of giving the wrong information (since its not something I specialize in), I'm more likely to connect the student with the proper faculty member to answer these questions.

For anyone that is in admission, administration or some other section of the school, aside from academics, this course would be wonderful! However, as an instructor, I would have definitely appreciated a course geared more toward me as a teacher.

Just a humble opionion! Either way, I appreciate what I have learned!

I somewhat agree that course material specifically tailored to instructors would be useful.  However, as instructors I can appreciate that we may inadvertently commit an act of noncompliance simply through ignorance of compliance guidelines.  i found the course helpful in many ways and can now be more viligant in my position as an instructor.

I agree that the information was valuable, but I too, am an instructor, and feel that the information is geared more toward admissions. When students say something like "something else I wasn't told when I enrolled", I refer them to their handbook or to the program directors. Some of this information is not something I can do anything about!

I think Barbara is correct. Here at my flight academy it is very important to be on the same page.  The instructors out number the admissions department by quite a bit.  Meetings just isn't enough.  Hope you can se both sides Jeff.

Jeffery, I found the course very interesting and enlightening. While all instructors may not feel this is applicable to their role, it is important for all who come into contact with students (current and perspective) to be aware of the implications of possible noncompliance with Transparency. In my experience, I have had many students ask questions or seek clarification of what they  may have been told, so we (instructors) need to know what to say if we are in any of these situations. I can attest that I was lucky enough to receive information from my registrar, financial aid director, program director, and admissions  which helped me to be in compliance when I had students asking questions during the off-hours when these staff members were not available to speak with them and I had the advantage to know where to direct them or what to say or not-to-say. So, with all that being said, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have this course presented and available for review if needed. Jeffery, although you may not have felt it was geared to instructors, you wisely indicated an awareness that if one does not know what to say then one must know where to direct the students to find the answers they seek. This is very fitting and falls in with what I (we) tell my (our) students- I may not know the answer , but I will try to find it or let you know where you can go to get the answer.
