Know your students, be a full-time instructor, daily support, and permanent role model

Student(s) in career college programs and bachelor’s programs alike, are looking to their instructors as their role models, managers and motivators. The best thing you can do, as an instructor, is to model yourself as all three. Give them the information and offer a plethora of examples so that they know you bring expertise to the table and you are part of their valuable education. Help them to manage their time. Sometimes students come into a college atmosphere and don't have very good time management skills, and this is an opportunity for us to help. Finally, in an overview, we can be their constant cheerleaders and motivators. We can tell them they can and they will and follow it up with allowing them to see that we are there for them and that we will follow them through their educational journey.
