One way I like to begin a class day is to use CAT tools to assess the students prior understanding of the material.  CAT stands for classroom assessment technique.  This could be a pre-test or even have the students write down 2-3 questions they had from the reading/homework that can guide a discussion after the lecture.  I have found that using small activites like this have increased preparedness for the class.  I am going to try to use a more innovative approach this coming week by utilizing the Nearpod app to give a pre-test to track each student individually and ensure they all comprehend.  All the students have iPads and I hope it is successful!!
