"Flipped" Leadership

At the APSCU convention in June I had the opportunity and honor to present a breakout session entitled "Flipped" Leadership. Based on the concept of the flipped classroom where instructors spend face time on more student interaction as opposed to lecture, "Flipped" Leadership likewise emphasizes the importance of spending face time with employees in more valuable areas such as collaboration, training and development rather than simply the traditional autocratic, supervisory methods. The foundation to Flipped leadership rests on techniques and strategies for engaging employees, facilitating buy-in, inclusion and motivation.

Since Faculty Coaches, Deans, Directors of Education and Program Directors, etc. may have supervisory responsibilities, I wanted to run by the topic of "Flipped" Leadership and see if anyone might be interested in further information on this topic.

I agree with this.  I think as a leader one needs to focus on their colleagues and employees.  I believe that if we explain why we do things as leaders, it really helps everyone within an organization to better understand mission, vision and values.  How many times do leaders/managers just tell employees what to do without explaining why its important or it's rationale.  I think it would be a great course for leaders/managers to take part in.

This sounds like a graat idea.  Definately something to look at as an alternative to a course that may be predominantly lecture based.
