EL110 - Effective Use of Social Media in Online Courses is Very Informative and Current

I completed the EL 110 course and found it to be very informative and current.  With the fast paced changes of social media, I appreciated the attention to social media terminology and the presentation of the function and applications of the new innovations in online communications.  I also found the suggestions for incorporating social media as an extension of courses very helpful.  Integrating social media into online courses can assist in helping students to meet the terminal course outcomes.  Not only is this beneficial in helping students be successful in academic settings, but it aligns with students, who are presently involved with social media.  I recommend this course to faculty members, who desire to augment their online teaching with social media and current innovations.

Hello I just completed the course for social media and learned a great deal about blogging, microblogging, wiki, etc.  I also learned new terms that I was not familar with and certainly plan to incorporate them in my classrooms.  This includes google video, iTunesU, Flickr, etc.  Thanks for sharing your experiences as well!  Mitchell

Excellent points!

It surprises me that all this time I have been annoyed at students who use texting in our Discussion Board assignments, when I could have been embracing the technology to make DBs more engaging. Just as you say, we could align our projects with students use of social media.

Great overview

Great overview of items I had taken for granted in the past.
