I think one should prepare themselves for a second career because ofttentimes professionals tend to burnout of perfoming the same job for many years.  Instead of never being able to obtain job advancement in the job one may original began however; it does mean one perhaps retire in any entry level position.  In addition, following company policy and procedures as well as surrounding yourself around people whom have the ability to create change in your work environment. I think one should never give up in career advancement because there is always a chance for career advancement when one is always working to get ahead.
