Remaking Higher Education: Innovation Hub [Podcast]
Facing rising costs and a changing economic environment, colleges may be on the verge of a revolution. A panel of experts discuss the following questions:
- Should the focus of education be changing?
- Does career oriented training now outweigh a liberal arts education?
- How do we best position young Americans for the challenges of the 21st Century?
Whatever the current focus on education is it does not seem to be working. For one, participating in organized institutions of education should not feel like something you have to do in order to be sucessful but unfortunatly this seems to be the case. There are still countries in this world where being able to get an academic education, let alone particpate in higher ed is a rare and special gift ( something appreciated as an oppertunitiy to grow and better ones undertanding of the world and hopeful at the end be able to produce a life that better that life as well as life in general) I do not think that any type of education is better than another, whether it be for training twords and specific carrer of liberal art degree, just different. If talks all kinds to make the world go round. Some people end up in infastucture and business and other in creative arts; the best of which happend when the two collabrate to innovate making the world more efficent and beautiful. Therefore the best thing we can do for young americans is lead by example and encourge them to educate themselves and enjoy all the possibilites that come from learning and creating new things.
