Online successes and challenges

With our current state of the World during this unpresidented time of COVID-19 and the Corona virus Pandemic, I have found that online learning and teaching can and will be challenging. Not only are we trying to maintain a since of normalsy, but we also are trying to make this online experience interactive and enjoyable during a very difficult time. I have found that using these resources that I've learned from this course have paid off tremendously. Being motivated and interacting with students via virtual classrooms and video chatting, it has given students a look into our personal space and our reality as Instructors. They can see that we are so simular in our everyday lives, like dealing with our own children or multitasking and even learning new technology for the sake of the class experience. This bond that we now share with the students is amazing. Though our physical authority is absent, the students can still feel an appreciation for the work and effort we put into the virtual classroom. I wouldn't want online learning to become the normal because I believe in the social and human aspect of being together in an educational environment, but I see how online learning can really open up new ideas and doors of teaching that you would probably never experience on campus.

My biggest challege is probably going to be keeping the students accountable for checking their annoucements and email daily! This is one task that will be more important than ever, knowing its our only means of communication. With that being said, the communication has to be consistant and detailed in order to recieve a successful response. I will continue to effectively communicate as much as possible to grow the relationship between me and my students. Implementing all that I have learned from these courses will help me achieve this goal.
