Asynchronous learning is not appropriate for all students.  We should take time to make sure it fits for the individual student needs.

Integrating media strategies or different content is essential to engage learners.

I prefer to reflect therefore teaching asynchronous courses is a great fit for me. I have a way to reach those students who may tend to fall behind by offering assignment sections due throughout the course. Once they reach the last week, we just pull it all together.

Feedback is important for students, perhaps more so in an online course.  Getting feedback from peers on discussions, from the teacher on assignments and feedback through interactive slides such as those used in this course   All of this is needed under normal face-to-face class conditions, but this feedback is needed even more in the online universe to avoid feelings of isolation or operating in a void.

I learned that there are benefits from allowing mulitple responses to quizzes as they can be confidence builders to the student as they prep for their tests.  The danger I feel with allowing unlimited attempts, is that students can simply memorize the correct answers.  This doesn't help them learn if the test questions are worded differently, from those they saw on the quiz.  I still think that there are pros and cons to this practice.

My notes of the process that includes analysis, reflection, understanding and application seem to be a good framework for integrated learning.

Use a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning activities.

Students in an online program need a variety of learning methods in order to connect with the content and the instructor. The ability to be engaged in the learning environment with others is essential in order to see relevance in the material being taught.

I appreciated seeing that context of the skills is as important as the skill itself.

Even for trade skills that are more hands on, presentation skills are important to discuss with others quality assurance and strategic ways to improve
