Skills needed to be successful that relate to self-awareness, social awareness, self-management, relationships, and responsible decision-making. 

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) is the skill development to promote emotional intellegence.   SEL focuses on the CASEL foundations of self-awareness, social-awareness, self-management, relationships, and responsible decision-making.  

Our school holds advisory committee meetings a few times a year. This is an opportunity for career industry experts to come in and evaluate our curriculum as well as the tools we use as we teach. This ensures that we are up to date with the latest technology when teaching. 

How has your school district involved your CTE programs related to the use of technology with respect to career development?

1. Collaborating with faculty members to include social and emotional learning objectives.

2. Building positive relationships with students.

3. Inclusive practices for all students, staff and faculty.

Social emotional learning (SEL) I would define it as a set of life skills that include self management, self awareness, social awareness, developing positive relationships, including empathy and understanding for the needs of self and others,  and the ability to make responsible decisions. 

 

SEL is social-emotional learning. I would define it as the skills needed to be successful navigating life's challenges, whether in the workplace or at home.
