Social media and social networking are two different things. There are other meand of social networking that do not involve the social media.  Although you can use social media to social network it doesn't have to be so. If you do not know how to mix the two, stay away from social media.

Helping the student develop their skills at motivating themselves has a high ROI of your time invested with them. Do it. Invest the time. Autonomy mastery and Purpose are my three key principles for motivation and the ones I try to instill in students.

It's been two days since this Uvalde shooting. One of our students, who is a work study, lost someone at the horrific event. The reason i bring this up is because I relied on what I learned here about becoming a better listener. So many times I try to provide feedback but this was not one of those cases.

I believe we all have been empathetic listeners but until now I didn't know what it was or that it had this name. I focused on only listening, making connections with the student and sharing their feelings.

Coaching should be tasked oriented so these should be short term outcomes.

A lot of these things, I have been practicing. It usually results in both the employer and myself being a good match and I stay at the job longer.

Sounds Interesting

The rule when I was in school was 3 hours of study out of class for every hour in class including online courses.  To me that included homework, or review and reading. Today's students work so their hours are limited. I've seen the curriculum watered down to accomodate the students instead of students making accomodations. If you consider that an online course, students no longer have to drive onto campus, walk across parking lots, to their building, their classroom, you'd think we would have more time. It's not happening. More accomodations for online students leads to students developing worse habits. … >>>

Reflection is an important habit to develop with your students.

Critical Thinking is a preliminary step to ethical decision making. It's not just thinking something through. Ultilmately a decision has to be made and acted upon. That's the practical impact of critical thinking.
