About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

IRIS, Like your definition as it includes both instruction and learning. I think like you that teaching is as much about learning as it is teaching. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Shawnte, Good way to illustrate to your students both application and relevancy. This is how you get them engaged and excited about the field they are preparing to enter. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Edward, I agree with your assumption about the value of a well developed syllabus. A quality syllabus as a number of outcomes that benefit both students and faculty. We need to remember this as we prepare for our courses. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gina, I like this format because it helps students to see where they are at and what they need to do to continue their success or change in order to be more successful. By doing it at mid point you are helping them have this information before it is too late to remedy. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Gina, They really do because they help to make the content you are teaching to come alive and have value for the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Kathleen, Consistency is a must for instructors. If students know that their instructor is going to enforce the policies of the course and be consistent in the requirements then they settle in and start to focus on the course. Also, the first impression is the foundation upon which the remainder of the course is built so it needs to be a good one. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
