About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Edwin, Yes it does and it gets everyone on the same page as the course is getting started. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nancy, Demonstrations are as you say a great way to help students to comprehend content. The more senses you can incorporate in the learning process the better. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzanne, This approach is what will make learning fun for your students as well as keep them engaged. Keep up the good work and the sharing of laughter with them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Suzanne, This is such a great way to get students settled into the course and feeling comfortable with you and their classmates. Then you can build on what they tell you to select the instructional components that will have the most value to your students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Brandon, Thank you for the support of the use of graphic organizers. They do make a major difference in helping learners get organized and securing the key points needed for course success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Curtis, You are right about the need to plan for all types of MI instruction and this way you will touch on the different learning preferences of students. The results will keep them engaged and moving forward in their knowledge acquisition as well as skill development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Danielle, Yes it is. What are some way you provide opportunities to develop both motivation and hands on experience and growth? Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
James, Thanks for the reference to the "Dry Eyes" guy, Ben Stein. His performance is such a classic that he is referenced often even today when it comes to being the "death by teacher" guy. At least he gave us a role model of what not to do and for that we can say "thank you". Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Danielle, Enthusiasm is catching so we need to bring it to class each time and help our students to see our passion for our field and the excitement we have about teaching it. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lavete, This is so important because it creates a common base from which to operate since the students themselves are so different. You can build on this and create a supportive learning community as a result. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
