Motivation

Sometimes no matter how much inspiration, engagement, or motivation we have...a few students lose interest. However, we must connect with them on a personal level as well. Often times it is not because we are not good instructors. It is easy and common for life to bring us down. These students often rely on us as mentors as well as instructors. An important concept for all instructors is our ability to mold ourselves in the classroom. Every adult learner is different; therefore, it is important that we are able to conform to a number of learning styles within the classroom so that a variety of students can learn from the resources and materials available. While I am well established in the technological world, I am lacking in the social networking department. But I am beginning to notice the vital role it has established within my own community; therefore, I will be more diligent about participating in a positive fashion in hopes to create social change. I have been teaching for quite sometime now and I have never been exposed to this level or type of information. While MaxKnowledge has been helpful, my lack of recognition on and first-time exposure to this information has left me a little desheveled. I hope to look to the Forums for some clarification in the future.

I am aware of the 18 month time period from the learning material you have provided within the course. I was just not sure if this situation fell within those statutes. But, I appreciate your response and it is a blessing to know that current institutions including my own are maintaining DNC lists. This will be helpful in the long run. Social Media Usage

I do believe that social media usage can be a useful tactic in that it can reach a vastly large area of people in a relatively short period of time; however, I have noticed that often times Facebook and Twitter are misused. The information that is posted is more for blogging in a "negative" fashion rather than promoting a "positive" environment or creating social change. How can we as educators control the use of social media in our institutions? Thanks, Amber
