@Michael39 :  If a student is a walk in without an appointment.  I welcome them to the school and shake thier hand.  I will invite that student to my office so we can discuss in a private setting the purpose of thier visist.

If I had a scheduled appt with them.  I also shake their hand, thank them for keeping their appt and assist them.

I always make the student feel welcome and let them know I am ready to assist.

@Michael39 : I  kind of do what yo do but I always say "welcome to school name.  I asked them questions such as :

1) How thier commute was?

2) How is the weather out thier?

3) Did they find us ok?

Just basic questions to break the ice.

Very nicely said.  I agree...as long as you truly go the extra mile 100% of the time for every student, you can rest assure that your efforts are not in vain.  You are a representative of the school and when you go above and beyond the students are not only grateful to you but it reaffirms they made the right decision to attend your school.

I agree with Mr. Joerres.  Now more than ever, we need to eduate our country to ensure we remain competive not only on a national level but on a global level.  Their are jobs out their that simply are not filled because people lack the proper edcation so we tend to give those opportunites to other countries.  The individuals that work within the educational system need to take owndership and do whatever it takes to get our students prepared for this constant changing world in which we live in.

I agree Samantha.  This course really shows the big pitucre as to all the different senarios that can take place when you are assisting a poteital student through the Admissions Process that has any kind of disability.  This information is extremly helpful and should be reviewed from time to time as we dont often experience these situations.

Welcome!!!  It really needs to be regulated as the stduents rights should always come before Admissions view's.  Disabled indivuals have rights and they should be protected.  You will find this training extremely helpful.

I coundnt agree more Marc.  The training is really at your own pace which allows us to go thru it at our leisure while being extremly informative and educational.

Welcome to the industry.  Your right, this course is extremely helpful.  You will find their are so many laws, policies and procedures that need to be follwed to ensure that students rights are protected when it comes to any form of disability.

This information si truly invaluable.  It is not only a refresher for the veterans but it also must know information for any new Admissions representative.  This course will educate us on taking the proper steps towards assisting stduents with any kind of disabilities.

It's nice to know that our instuctors are being trained on this as well.  I think all members of a school should be aware of these policies so we all know the right way of addressign situations.
