Hi Mabel, Well I have come across with some of those students and what has worked for me is I see how the group is working together, and if that particular students has the attitude "like I'm smarter than you " I try to approach the group with out saying anything and see what the group is talking about . Then I begin to ask questions to random members of the group and see what their respond is. I then ask that student a question to also include them in the group , by doing this it tells the student… >>>

Well to be honest i try to have my lesson plans done ahead of time and what i do over the weekend i go over my material for the week and make any adjustments . If the previous term ididnt like the way things worked out , i make a not to my self and make the adjustments... For me it's always a calabration game, if something did not work for one class it might work for another. I probably prepare for about 3 hours or so and if i feel i need to adjust as i teach i do… >>>

When i am putting together students groups, i find that by keeping a good balance mixed of students realy helps. Byassingning numbers to students this helps to eliminate them grouping with their friends. This now allows the students to learn to interact with someone they might not know or be familiar with , allowing them to share thier experiancess from different backgrounds or cultures.
In my experience i find that good body gestures realy help me in communicating with my students. If my students see me come in to class exicted and in a good mood it trully reflects on them causing them to also feed off my possitive energy. I believe that we speak louder with our bodie language than what we actually say.

I like to keep things interesting , so i try different thing when i teach a new objective. I do feel nervous about it but i have to try new things in order to improve my ways of teaching. After all , if i dont make mistakes i will never learn from them . Some of the ideas that are mentioned in this course are some that i allready implement in my lesson plans and they trully work . For example:start with a quote or start by reading something factual relevante to the objective. This help me start and engage… >>>

It is very important to plan ahead. I always read my material prior to teaching it , it trully helps me understand what i will be teacjing about and refresh any topic i might have difficulty with . This also helps me prepare for any questions that students migh have about the objecyives being presented.
I am a new instructor and about to complete my first year teaching. I have found that mayking your own style as an instructor really help me in having my students feel more confortable and open minded to learn. At first i was very nervous and did not know what to expect, but after a few months my personality and style of teaching emerged. This made the class more fun and interesting for my students and most important they were learning.
I have tried walking arround my class room as i lecture, this keeps all my students even the ones who might be off to "la-la land" focused. This method works, as for the students that seem to be distracted will start paying attention and will stay ingaged in the lecture.
