Hi Katherine! I couldn't agree more! Everyone likes to be valued and having eye contact with students helps them feel valued therefore building self confidence. Is also helps the instructor learn more about students. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Diana! I like this approach and have used it in a similar manner. In the first couple of weeks of a new start, I give students a graphic format of what they will learn during the semester and they are to fill it in as they move through the course. We have checkpoints to ensure that students are on track and at the end of the course they have filled in the appropriate info. It becomes a perfect study tool as well. Keep up the good work! Very nice comments Jason! Instructors must prepare themselves so that they can continue to challenge students to continue preparing themselves. Instructors are the role models! Good work! Jane Davis Ed107 Facilitator
Greetings to all who posted comments to this topic. Is it just me that feels like we are seeing more students with learning needs or is it because more emphasis has been placed on learning how to assist students? I like to think that instructors are applying equal learning opportunities for all students. Then addressing those individual needs become less straining on an instructors planning and delivery. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Greetings Eric! Thanks for sharing this approach to assessing student learning needs. You find the challenge, help the student to assess self performance then you provide additional feedback as needed. Good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Gwen! I like your approach. But for those of us who are not familiar with zoomarang, please share more information. Thanks and keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Absolutely Michele! Validation is often what will make or break a student. So many students don't feel the success is possible but when an instructor shows that interest, a student will soar to new heights. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Stephanie! Peer evaluation is certainly a method for assessing individuals in a group. But I do believe that instructors need to know their students and their learning strengths. Group work may not work at all for some students but it doesn't mean that they can't be a productive students or worker. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Greetings Stephanie! Very nice comment! It builds confidence in the instructor and the student when we are connected with each other. Our eyes tell us so many things about the other person and about how they are responding to incoming information. Good job! Jane Davis ED106 Facilitator
Hi Matthew! Thanks for your comments! Experience is the best teacher and when coupled with the academic experience, individuals are much more able to be successful in the workforce. Keep up the good work! Jane Davis Ed106 Facilitator
