Geoffrey, Bewilderment???? I guess that's one way of looking at it but just imagine how those things may become second nature after awhile. You may just wonder how you ever did without them, right? :) Dr. Jean Norris
Annette, Wow! You've packed a lot of great tips in just a few sentences. Overall, what I hear you saying is to consider the receiver (other person) in the communication to have a more meaningful interaction and that...is a choice that many don't take. Great insights! Dr. Jean Norris
Gaylene, Excellent post! You certainly have a meaningful grasp on the difference and importance of both roles. In your experience, how do great managers and leaders switch back and forth? Dr. Jean Norris

Erica, Thanks for your comments. These show meaningful insight on how your behaviors may impact others. Your ability to see things from different perspectives can be very valuable when used correctly too. Dr. Jean Norris
Geoffrey, I hear ya. I forgot my passwords all the time. It may be a hassle but one you get the hang of it...it's hard to go back! Best of luck! Dr. Jean Norris
Elizabeth, Patience is definitely a key in moving through the hierarchy. Just keep in mind that not everyone will move through all steps (in fact, it is not essential/nor desired to bond with everyone at that level). Getting to mutual interest is key however. Thanks for the post! Dr. Jean Norris
Elizabeth, Yes, the idea of flexibility or improvising is essential however it is not as easy as it sounds. Have you found that others your work with prefer a script or outline to manage conversations? Dr. Jean Norris
Elizabeth, I really appreciate your comment about speaking WITH (not to) each student. Very insightful! Dr. Jean Norris
