James, The rules and regulations discussed in CM202 apply to school's licensed by the Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. Public colleges in Ohio are under the jurisdiction of the Ohio Board of Regents. Decisions about what regulations apply to different types of schools are made by the Ohio legislature and enacted in the Ohio Revised Code. John Ware
Anthony, Most schools track retention closely and have internal polices for improving retention. Many accrediting agencies also have policies that address student retention. John Ware
David, Good observations regarding job opportunities. While there is nothing inherently wrong about "selling the dream" it is also important to make sure that students have realistic expectations about post graduation employment. John Ware
Phil, To get actual copies of the actual regulations you would have to review the the code of federal regulations (CFR). For more information on the changes to the federal program integrity rules you can visit this web site: http://www.tgslc.org/policy/integrity-rules.cfm John Ware
Amy, This is a great suggestion. Many schools that have multiple agents do this internally but I know if would be helpful for schools that only employ a few agents. John Ware
Janet, OACCS sponsors in-person training seminars a couple times a year for admissions reps. Check the OACCS web site for more information. John Ware
As some of you may be aware, the U.S. Department of Education instituted several new rules that went into effect on July 1, 2011 that impact all schools that participate in federal financial aid programs. These new federal rules contain several new requirements regarding student disclosures and other policy chages that could affect the activities of admissions reps. Has your school instituted any new training initiatives to discuss these new federal rules?

Bob: There is a catalog checklist available on our web site at scr.ohio.gov . The checklist can be found with the other "New School Application" forms under the "Forms" heading. There is also an enrollment agreement checklist. These checklists are very useful in determining what items are required to be in the catalog or enrollment agreement.
Jason: This is a great suggestion. Some schools try to arrange alumni events to bring former students back to the school to talk about their experiences in the workplace. These alumni events would certainly be a great opportunity for the admissions staff to talk with these former students to become familiar with what happens to students after they enter the workplace.
Benjamin: The differences/similarities between various types of accreditation are difficult to understand even for those working in post-secondary education. These concepts that are even more difficult to explain to potential students during the admissions process. I do agree, however, that admissions reps should understand the basic differences between types of accreditation and the potential implications with respect to transfer of credit and/or future employment opportunities.
