Eric: I would first bring any potential discrepancies to the attention of your supervisor. However, if you believe that there are serious issues or potential state rules violations that are occurring and are not being addressed, you can forward your concern to the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools for further review.
Thomas: Yes, referral incentives are permitted in Ohio so long as they are part of a school's written referral program and in compliance with the federal rules on "token gifts". This generally permits non-cash referral gifts to students so long as the gifts to any student do not exceed $100 in value annually.

Edward: I would say generally yes that a student should be permitted to inquire about placement and graduation information even after they have enrolled. Since schools must disclose this information to prospective students as part of the enrollment process, I'm not sure what rationale a school would have for not disclosing the same infromation to current students.

Michael: This catalog policy "hard copy available upon request" is becoming more common. It is important to remember that the school should keep archived electronic versions of their prior catalogs every time a revision is made since it may be necessary to determine what policy was in effect during previous academic terms.

Thomas: Tuition and fees are required to be disclosed in the school catalog and on the enrollment agreement. If those items are accessible on a school's website, a student can find the information within those documents. Since tuition and fees can vary by program and/or depend on the number of credit hours attempted, it is often difficult to publish a clear set price.

Howard: I would agree that the financial aid department should probably answer any specific refund questions that a student may have because it can get quite complicated with the variety of funding sources that students use. However, admissions reps should be able to discuss and/or identify the basic refund policy that is contained in the enrollment agreement as well as discuss other school polices that set forth in the document.

Kristine: This is a very good suggestion. Having admissions reps understand what is discussed during financial aid appointments can give the admissions rep a much better idea of how that key part of a student's enrollment is processed.
Michael: This is a good point. Moreover, if you believe that, based upon the feedback you are getting from prospective students, any of your school's advertising or marketing material is giving students inaccurate or misleading information about the school, it is important to bring that to the attention of your supervisor.
Allison: Very true. Understanding how a student became aware of your school is an important element of the admissions process.

Debra: Shadowing people in different departments is always helpful for admissions reps. Periodically sitting in on classes can also be informative. The more you know about your school, the easier it is to effectively communicate with prospective students during the admissions process.
