About me

Activity

On the first day, I introduce myself and give my qualifications for teaching the course. I have a printed syllabus and calendar ready for them and greet them at the door every day. I give an intruduction to the course along with the rules and regulations of what is expected of them. This has set the pace and level of performance that is expected from my adult learners. What I would like to work on is the use of "I" intead of "YOU". I like the form in which we can address a concern without having a learner lose face… >>>

Going through this course I gave a lesson in form of a discussion. Asking opinions and experiences that relate to the topic. I had a much highier buy in and participation opposed to lecturing in front of the class. Each learner felt as a valued part of the group.

@hammit39 Challenge the learner with open questions. Let the learner draw their own conclusions and guide them to the correct answer. I've recently started asking the class "who wants to be the first one to give me a question?" This gives other learnes a chance to ask questions at their comfort level and not make them feel like a target and shut down. This is by no means a replacement method to get them to reacall information on their own. I still ask open/closed end questions.
