Willie , You are so smart; you are ahead of many of us. You have to have an assessment plan along with your technology plan. You want the students to have a rich experience but still be successful in learning. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Thomas, Aren't you surprised how easy it is to connect to someone that someone else you know, knows. It means information can travel very vast. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Thomas, We make all of our freshmen work on professionalizing their social media sites. We do make sure they know the consequences of not cleaning the sites. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Thomas, What a great point. Yes, there has to be etiquette just as there was in letter writing or phone usage. All new media goes through the process. we seem to forget that. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Kimberly, You are so right. We can't just wait this out and hope it goes away. It will change, morph in to something else but we can't just put our head in the sand and assume we don't have to address it. Students need to prepare to use these tools. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Willie , I want to take your class. How interesting is your point and how interesting you use the technology. You are really connecting students to the learning. You may want to look at padlet.com as a tool to use with your students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Stephanie, While I agree with you we want to make sure that we don't make the online course a correspondence course. You want to make sure that you include the communication with other students also. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Willie , What a great post. You make a great point, we need to show students how to use the resources available and using social media is a great way to introduce students to professionals, experts etc. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Discussion Comment
Vallorie , You really have thought this through. Would you use a rubric? Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
Samia, Yes, Yes, Yes! We have to share, talk, evaluate, and repeat. Students will "hear" what you say to them in different ways, you just have to be diligent in keeping the message in front of the students. Dr. Kelly Wilkinson
