Activity
allowing students to choose which assignment or suggest which assignment helps them learn the most can influence their motivation.
Developing long term goals with a student requires an understanding of their life situation and desires.
Listening to a person must be an active and engaged event. demonstrating that you are understanding their point by verbal or non verbal responses will make the speaker feel heard and understood.
The focus of an educator and the educational institution has to be the growth and education of the student. That growth may differ from one student to another, however it has to be the main focus.
Adults need to be able to see where and how the class can enhanse their skills and how to apply the new knowledge in their carrer.
i share my personal experiences and successes with my students and encourage them to strive to be the best they can be and enjoy the ride.
I like to bring up a question that involves hobbies or entertainment venues that somehow relate to our subject matter, even if a very vague relation to our subject. This shift activates the students intrest and thinking. it often awakens the whole class to offer input and their experiences. i can then show the relationship to our current subject and reengage the class to continue the lesson. This redirection helps deture bordom and stimulate class involvment.
I always open my class with a light hearted or humorous story. this helps to gather the students thoughts and gives an opprotunity for input and feed back from the students. it unites us as a classby uniting our thoughts on a common subject. This established a great learning atmosphere prior to entering the lesson subject.
The more you understand about your students educational goal, past experiences and their reasons for engaging in the education will hepl you adapt your delivery to better suit their needs.
Informative course :I find that using as many open questions as possible will draw the students into the crytical thinking process, there by engaging them in active learning, rather than simply reciting information in response to a closed question.
