Christopher, Sounds like you have a great system in place and one that's working well for you. If this is the case, simply keep it up! Dr. Melissa Read
Emily, Thank you for sharing this resource! It sounds like there are a lot of people in this course who could benefit from it. Yes, it's great to have a tool that allows you to slowly evolve into having better habits. Dr. Melissa Read
Pamela, Those sound like two important changes. You might take them on one at a time, depending on how much of a time investment you think is required of each. I have always benefited by starting small and working my way up. Dr. Melissa Read
Stacy, Sounds like a great plan. Many administrations invest in technologies that help their instructors speed the grading process. Learning more about what's available and utilizing the best resources can certainly help. Dr. Melissa Read
Jin Tae, Interesting approach! Most people in this course tend to do just the opposite. It's great to hear that you are leaning in to difficult tasks and knocking them out of your queue. Dr. Melissa Read
Jeffrey, Both excellent approaches that can significantly speed grading! What I love about the underlining method is that we really don't change the format that the students must respond in. Dr. Melissa Read
Lisa, That sounds like a wonderful outlet. Of course, it relies on your husband being available to help. Some people, who enjoy massage, also enjoy yoga when they are alone. Dr. Melissa Read
Christopher, Real world tasks are great for deeply assessing knowledge. Yes, they may take more time but are worth it for many of us. Some of us have the luxury of grading real world tasks on the spot, in the classroom. For example, those that teach communication ask students to give speeches, and grade those speeches in class. Dr. Melissa Read
Jason, So true! It's wonderful to be as high fidelity as possible in testing. This is great practice for the students and also helps us understand if we've really moved the needle on preparing them for the future. Dr. Melissa Read
Cynthia, Immediacy can work well sometimes when we are trying to knock tasks out of our queue. In the short term, it can make us feel better. Longer term and when we have too many tasks however, we typically need to slow down and prioritize. Dr. Melissa Read
