Student who have a low self esteem, a great evaluation can be a great boost, they feel that the hard work was for the right reason. Also evaluating students, shows you to what degree the student has learn. Evaluating gives the student what information they understand and where they need to improve.
One of the ways I keep my students involved is to plan my lectures into sections. The students are more inclined to remain engaged if the day is put into blocks of 1 hour sections. Each hour we do something different such as a lecture, then some hands on lab relating to the lecture, or break up into groups and give each group a timed challenge to see what they have learned. I also really helps to keep the students motivated.

The instructor personality is the foundation of success for any course. With all the tools today at our disposal, the instructor is the one standing in front of the classroom instructing the students guiding what level of education they received The instructor must be authentic not ony to the students but to yourself also. Students know if an instructor is genuine. I'm a very outgoing and happy person naturally and I feel this is conveyed to my students and they feel at ease while in the classroom. I think this contributes to them feeling comfortable in asking questions and not… >>>

"We’ve got one chance to make a good first impression". Organization leads to better prepared classes, students notice this,as instructors we are more thorough and creative because our thoughts are organized. When we're prepared it just adds to a more interesting class. The hurried, frazzled, hectic-pace teacher conveys less than a wonderful picture of competence and confidence. Students are paying attention to the instructors every move, so organization comveys competence. I make it a rule to always be 3-5 days ahead of schedule, organized and prepared for the future start of a class.
In order to gain respect, you must give respect. By showing my students respect, it become reciprocal. I will often tell my students that I respect how hard they are working in school and what a great example they are for their children and others in their lives
I really believe that a students cheat because of the lack of preparation. And I find is frustrating and so do the students who is working hard, they put in the effort to be prepared and they are taking their education seriously. Especially if the cheating student recieves a higher grade then the one who studied hard. It can cause a lot of hard feelings between students and each other but also students and instructor.
First is, we are a career oriented school, the students come from a wide range of background. I remind my self to that I need to be more patient, have a big heart and that I need to put more efforts and time in for them, otherwise, they are easy to get slipped off the track.
Most student learn by seeing and or by demonstration, by show other students work helps the students understand that they can do it if they are having a hard time understanding
This has worked for me with the learning disability students, making the lecture material available in an outline has helped some students stay forcused and lets them review the information on their own time after class. I tried not to single these stduent out because I feel that sometimes adds a stigma and these students already need to work a bit harded. Also having the material and providing the outline to everyone in the class. As this section points out, this helps everyone.
In my time as a instructor I have found it useful to use my 15% the star students to elevate the status of your the 75% and also the 10% group of students it has helped helps in numerous ways and situations. It keeps the A-players from getting bored and builds relationships that helps the less successful students become b-players. That allows the instructor to concentrate on bringing the B-players to A-status.
