Having a Bio on student, having information on how they prefer to learn, getting to know them will facilitate the online environment, being able to engage and keep them focused is also important.

Making sure to monitor all student participation, keeping all discusions on topic and letting any student know if they are off topic, just maintaining  good communication with any student that might have problem, technical difficulties are the number one cause for lack of participation and help/support should always be given.

Utilizing all your communication skills is essential for effectivness.  Engaging with the students, keeping them focused with participation on the different discusions, maintaining all avenues of communication open, email the student if there is a concern keeping them informed and updated on any and all changes to the courses is also important.

I learned how important it is to communicate with the student, being able to get to know them, how they learn, their study habits and how they absorb the matrial given.  It is important to establish a relationship from the first day, letting them know that as an instructor I willl be there to answer any questions or doubts they may have.

I learned that being familiar with the Course is very important, its not about how much knowledge but how you share it with the students, being able to navigate and familiarize myself with the platform and course content will be very helpful when addressing a question or doubts from the students.  There are different ways to keep the students engaged and interested in the different material being covered.
