Use different ways to evaluate the course will help in "closing the loop," need to address all learning styles, use benchmark reviews, three stakholders: students, institution, teaching/professional community, feedback is crucial, looking at quantittative and qualitative data is important but using mutiple data is important and appropriate data is as important to using multiple sources of data.  This includes using multiply kinds of evaluation methods.

Both formative and summative must be used, use Blooms' Revised Taxonomy, try: one-minute or muddiest-point, criteria is needed to assess students level of achieved objectives, use rubrics to score this, reflections by students are important to help with student's growth including peer assessemnts but guidelines must be clear and complete guidelines, and provide meaningful feedback through audio and written.

Create a strong online community but using discusssion boards, email, etc.  Create a postive envirnoment so students feel safe and that they belong, use all the different channels when creating modules, give the students a reason to effectively communicate such as credit, anonymity, etc. and use scaffolding to link the know to the unknown.

Create a course framework (what should the student know and do), Learning objects database, make a template for your modules and test it (on going test), consistency is the key to success, scaffolding instruction, must support the learning objectives, and have a discussion board, and feedback from your students.

Assessments help teachers by giving them on going feedback about how well the students are understanding the course.  Then teachers can take this feedback and make changes where needed.

Assessments must be consider as an important part of the students learning and must aline with the objectives of the lesson or course.  The validity make sure that what is being testing ic correct whether it the test is objective assessment or subjective evaluation.  Finally the teacher and students need to know whether test is a norm which includes a large group being tested or criterion-referenced which focus on the learning outcomes.

Understanding the difference between assessment (formative) that can be done by teacher and students and evaluation (summative) that is done by the teacher then using this information to make sure the students have gain the knowledge needed to successfully continue.

To be objective the teacher needs to use several different assessments to get a true understandig of what the student has learned.  I believe the students love to use problem-based assessments because it is more of an hands on assessement. There are several different kinks of LMS one can pick fromif the school board is willing to use it.

ISD gives the teacher a way to begin designing the course.  It makes you stop and think if everything is included to give the learned the best learning experience and information to help the teacher create these courses/lessons.

I like the examples of the syllabus, the organization of the lessons, and the Course structure sample which I plan to use some parts. It gives me a beginning. The multiply attempts on quizzes will help the new online learner to gain some self-esteem which I will use.
