About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Michael, yes this is a great idea & make sure you are looking at all types of diversity (I think that's what you mean here) so diversity of talents, abilities, backgrounds, etc. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Joe, this is very true & with some guided questions & carefully crafted projects, the learning groups can be very beneficial. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Kola, this is an excellent point regarding our stories & their potential power. Keep in mind that they more detailed they are, the more difficult it will be for our students to grasp the point. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
David, these are all great ideas & key to helping us have the most effective presentation possible. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
ROBERT, this is a great strategy as many career areas are rooted in project teams & so the students must learn to work in this environment. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Sandy , I am personally a big fan of having the students sign an agreement as I like to consistently emphasize that they are responsible for their learning. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Robbi, glad the information was useful & I do think it's important that we all strive to understand the differences around us. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Saroj, you nailed it on the head regarding one of the challenges of the vast amount of information that we currently have at our fingertips. I personally feel one of our jobs as instructors today is not so much teaching how to find the information, but rather how to determine which information is valuable & trustworthy. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
