About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Cynthia, I agree that coaching is definitely focused on the long-term development & I also believe there is value in good, effective managing. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Paul, this is why I highly recommend arriving at your presentation destination well in advance so you are not rushed & flustered. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
kathy, this is a great point & too often we associate compassion with being a push-over. This is not true, but rather shows our concern. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Hope, and as you point out, the key is to truly know your staff so you can properly delegate. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Kandy, I like your approach of pulling in the contemporary articles & reading. This is a great example to the students. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
ANDREA, you cannot make them share with you but I've found that by demonstrating I want to help & being open & receptive to the students that this can help alleviate that tension & break the ice a little (so to speak). Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

ANDREA, this is a great point to make. If nothing else, the group projects can be a welcome break for the norm of the lecture/power point. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
