My role as an instructor is largely to guide the student to the appropriate resources.
Accomodations must be looked at carefully to avoid ove compensating and providing advantage.
Veterans may be the hardest group to recognise their diabilities, they tend to be very proud people and often don't disclose their disability, I have had a few vets with PTSD and they can be a challenge.
Accomodations for disabilities must be made but not to such a degree that it gives the disabled student an advantage.
I never allow myself to cross the line into friendsip with my students. I can be friendly with them, laugh, joke and share my personal experiences but always set that boundry.
Clear expectations must be set but also enforced.
Students need to be held accountable for thier behavior in the classroom.
Setting due dates and clearly communicating them is vital in an online environment.
Labs need to assess skill yet be friendly to the environment in which their taught.
With COVID19, online and asyncronous learning in growing.
