About me

Activity

I teach People Skills so Course 106 Has helped me not only to upgrade my knowledge on teaching, lecturing and putting the students into groups, but it also help me put together a few lesson plans while I was going through the course.

Students with disabilities just need to know that their instructor will give them a chance to complete their work within the time frame that they are able to work in. When disable students are given this chance, their performance goes up.

So often instructors and teachers teach to the higher learner, thats ok, but it's the students with the difficulties that we need to plan some of our lesson plans on. After reading and complting their homework;thats a form of seeing the work. All students don't understand through reading. Next assign the students to a group activity so they an they can get the hands on training from or the experience the book wants them to learn. Then give have a group discussion to see what the students have learned so far. Finally, give them a quiz to finalize what they have… >>>

When we put students in a group it helps them to learn from one another, it keeps them interested in the class, and it helps them to participate because they know they are a part of other peoples grade.
Teaching communication is a difficult task if you are a shy person or if you are not a peoples person. In order to teach communication, you have to be able to communicate. I had instructors I fell asleep on because they sat behind their desk to lecture the class, or they stood in one spot the whole time they were speaking. When you are standing in one spot to teach, your voice becomes monotone and you will lose the attention of your class.

I found the best two forms of evaluation is a written essay and multiplechoice
Student have different learning styles. I use all styles in my class. I have the students read the chapter and write 10 questions from the chapter. I lecture on the most unanswered questions and then I have the class do activities on them. My powerpoint slides have responses during the slide and sometimes I have the students write down their questions and wait until after the slide to see how much they can retain.
My main objectives is to teach the students how to study, What to look for when they read, and how to breath during a test. My powerpoint slides are sometimes colorful and comical. After the slides, I do a activity then send the students on a break. Before I finish the slides after the break, I do a review with the students to see how much they remember.
I always make a schedule of what I expect the students to do during the semister. This gives the students that they will pass the class because they could either prepare the work early and hold it until it's due or if they miss time from class they won't feel like they are falling behind because they know exactly what they missed and they can prepare it for their return to school.
When you are a professional it is ok to talk about your family if you are making a point about a discussion that is going on in class, but do not dominate the discusson; leave time for other students to elaborate.
