For quizzes and finals, I go over this the very first thing during the day... A) It becomes a refresher and B) It make be asked again in the final so they should get the idea or concept. The students like the feedback because they feel that they know what they need to student more next and what to concentrate on for the next quiz.

Hi Jerry:
This is an especially strong technique for kinesthetic learners, and careers where you have to use a hands-on approach.

I have my students do activities until they are so familiar with it that it is boring to them. Then they will be ready for more challenging tasks.
Hi Kathy:
It is rare that a student can hear or read material just once and commit it to memory. I believe involving the senses, and repitition are important attributes teachers can develop in order to assist with retention of needd material.
I really believe that with enough time, nearly anyone can learn just about anything. But for some, that learning would come in hours or days, for others it would be months and years.
Of course we don't have months or years for a single topic, so we try to work smarter by engaging students, involving them in their learning, assisting with study tips, and providing the appropriate media choices, instructional aids, and resources that trims down the time for learning.

I agree I tell my students that you never can get to much of anything continue learning you don't use it you loose it. Keep repeating
Hi Terri:
Along with grade information, theres also individual encouragement, support, advice, empathy, and compassion we can demonstrtate to students by being good listeners and sharing "pearls of wisdom" we've learned along the way. Most students will appreciate having their teacher show some genuine care.

The students always know immediately how they're doing. We don't have the traditional quizes and final exam in my class - there are on-going questions & answers and the students have hands-on experience with what they're learning. I feel it's an important part of learning the material to know their progress and to be consistent with that information
Hi Louis:
Repetition works very successfully in music performance (rehearsal) and sports (practice), so there's no reason to think we can't make it work for us too. More repetion will lead to better retention.
