keeping students informed daily.

I try to keep my students informed of their greades on a daily basis, this way they know exactly where they stand and where they need to improve.

Hi Elizabeth I agree with the method of keeping the students informed daily, but I have a fifteen year old whom is very smart and when the teacher let's him know where he stands daily, he could maintain a b adverage and once he is informed he tends to play around more less take a break for a couple of weeks which his grades begin to drop,so you have to bring it to his attention that he is failing and as the reality set in he begins to pull the grades up again.

Hi Elizabeth:
Frequent sharing of progress, whether formal or informal, will pay off with dividends! Giving advice, suggestions, offering shortcuts, relating to them so they understand, not our way but their way, that'll make the difference in obtaining mediocre vs. outstanding achievement.

I absolutely agree with letting the student know where they stand in the class. It is almost like a savings account. The more you apply yourself in the class the better the outcome. Also, the students will learn more by being informed.

Amy:
Whew! When too much information comes all at once, that can be draining. So you're right, frequent sharing of performance status helps. And, we can also encourage, instill confidence, and motivate students by offering suggestions and assistance. Students will feel that touch of caring.

Choppy:
Great! Frequent and current student status updates helps everyone (teachers included) because, besides the grade information, we can also share kind words of encouragement, show care and concern, and offer suggestions and assistance, pertaining to class, and even offer to listen to personal concerns (if the student is willing or wants to share).

Regards, Barry

I agree i like to keep them informed so they do not get behind or overwhelmed, they know what to expect.
