I like to review tests and the students results as soon as possible. Students need time to reflect and ask question as to WHY thier answers were wrong so that they can fully understand and learn the key points to the lesson.

Tracy,
Great! Immediate feedback helps reinforce the correct information and clarifies areas where there still may be misunderstanding.

I completely agree. I go over the tests as soon as I'm doing grading them as well. I think this also helps the student to look back at there notes and it also sparks some great conversations and discussions in my class .

Jane,
It's true. I once believed the oine time I could not be an instructor was during testing. That's still true during the testing, but I now see that even a test can be a learning tool. This occurs through review, clarification, amplifying correct answers, explaining why other choices are less than the best choice, and finally, reinforcing the information as soon as possible following testing in an attempt to strengthen the correct information in the long term memory banks.

I go over the test during the next class meeting.I turn this into an educational opportunity and tell the students that they can learn from their mistakes. This simple lesson not only helps them learn the information that was missed on the test, but also the greater life lesson that we can choose to learn from our mistakes throughout our lives.

Ted,
I'm with you - the sooner the better. And your students probably appreciate your diligence to get back to them with graded test results too. The biggest advantage is to be able to correct misunderstandings, provide clarification, and have a better opportunity to move forward knowing the bulk of your class is ready to move on to the next session material.
