extra credit
I feel that extra credit should be given to help students who are really trying to learn the subject matter, and are having minor difficulties with it.

Right! Points and grades may help whats on paper, but I've found most EC activities contribute to student learning and benefit to working knowledge.

I agree I do not give extra credit in the class. I feel that the assigned work in class should be concentrated on and not adding another item that the students can become obsessed about. I feel they concentrate more on their grade and not on the actual learning

My experience with extra credit has not been good, and I choose not to give it. Each instructor and institutions has to decide what works best for them.
